The sparkle of Casablanca!

I arrived on a beautiful day, sunny and not too hot to walk around. The perfect conditions to discover Casablanca!

First, I had lunch and ordered a delicious couscous! Then, I took a taxi to go to a beautiful souk! Here I bought some souvenirs and walked around. I had a shocking experience here, I was walking around and suddenly I see a camels’ head hanging at a butcher’s shop, as I said before SHOKING!

Then I Took a taxi to the Hassan 2 mosque where I booked a guided tour to visit the mosque. What a beauty! We were so lucky because when we entered the mosque the rooftop was open and 5 minutes later it started to close. So, we saw the mosque with an open and closed roof, this only happens once a day so our timing was perfect! This is the first time I visited a mosque where the rooftop could open and close which I found very cool.

After my visit of the Hassan 2 mosque I started walking direction the corniche. The mosque is located by the sea so walking to the corniche is an amazing walk. It took around 20 minutes walking which I didn’t mind at all. After 5-minute walking, there was a local guy who told me to put away my phone as I was holding it in my hand. I put it away and thanked him. He told me it was obvious I was a tourist otherwise I would never hold a phone in my hand while walking on the streets, he explained. I thanked him for the advice and he proposed to walk with me as I was by myself and he was going to the same direction. We were the same age and started talking, I appreciated this offer as he scared me a little by saying to put my phone away as I could be robbed. He walked me to the corniche and we said goodbye. After that, I decided to take a taxi and go back to the hotel as I would meet my colleagues to have dinner. Some of my colleagues went to Casablanca before so they knew a nice typical Moroccan restaurant, it was called L’Etoile Centrale. Here I ordered harira soup and a lamb tagine, it was delicious!

After dinner, we went to the old medina where we walked around and bought more souvenirs. I bought some argan oil and small souvenirs for my family as this was one of the last flight before me going home and visit them! We also bought a huge watermelon with the crew so we could eat it the next day in the airplane, it was so tasty!
